A "sister restaurant" to
CENTRO Ristorante & Bar in Greenwich, CT, CENTRO of Fairfield is
more casual and less intimate. I decided to eat at
the bar. Surprisingly, I enjoyed my Caesar's Salad here more than
I had anticipated.
Like the Greenwich CENTRO, fresh cloves of garlic and olives decorated each table, along with thin Italian breadsticks. The garlic was presented in oil with basil, oregano and crushed red pepper. And it was so fresh that it left my lips stinging! The butter was, as I would wish it to be in EVERY restaurant: served at room temperature and spreadable, vs. frozen solid. Out came the Caesar's. It was difficult not to compare it with CENTRO's of Greenwich, and to my surprise, I don't think I could notice a difference. The romaine leaves were just as flavorful, drenched in a tasteful dressing. I believe both restaurants follow the same recipe (and no, they were not willing to reveal their ingredients). Fresh pepper and grated cheese topped it off, along with lots of garlic and herb flavored chunky croutons. Once more, as far as consistency - for a good Caesar's Salad, at a hearty size and reasonable price, CENTRO's has my vote... - LL |
